Keeping it Local – Last Week

Since the inception of this concept we have received an enormous amount of support and one of our main goals with the truck has been to continue the cycle of support by highlighting the great farmers and fisherman in our state. Last week we took a bigger step in carrying out that goal by working with Farmer’s Foodshare POP Market who has made our job of buying local a little easier. We also started taking deliveries of fresh caught Carolina seafood from Salty Catch Seafood Company.  Here is how we incorporated some local, seasonal items into our menu:

Flounder/Shrimp –  Salty Catch Seafood (Beaufort)

  • Flounder Fritters
  • Shrimp Ceviche Tostone Cups

Okra – Evans Family Family Produce Farm (Fayetteville)

  • Pickled Okra
  • Fried Okra

Canary Melon – Lyon Farm (Creedmoor)

Sweet Potatoes – Wise Farm (Indian Trail)

  • Candied Yams
  • Sweet Potato Chips
